[TheForge] Teaching blacksmithing and insurance

Folks: I have not found an underwriter for teaching, either. My carrier
for general insurance (Hartford) will not insure students, even in my own
shop, much lass at demos. Being a sole-proprietor, I'm completely on the
hook re personal assets.
What I have done, following legal advice, is to have the students
acknowledge and sign a carefully worded hold-harmless agreement (waiver).
The courts in CA generally adhere to the concept of assumed risk. As long
as you are not negligent, you will likely prevail. However, this does not
prevent the initiation of a suit.
Most community colleges and other large institutions are self-insured. I
would be interested in knowing of any companies that would underwrite a
teaching environment or demo myself. Expect the premiums to be huge.
