I would advise to stay with Canon or Nikon (in that order) for quality,
reliability and software. Not sure what the prices are in the States, but if
you could find a Canon G3, you would be happy. Even though in my job, I
use much more expensive cameras, I have one of these for home and shop, and
just love it.
