I try to forge a length long enough to provide a cool handle. However, =
I
almost always use a glove on the non-hammer hand. This keeps my hand =
less
abraded by groady metal.

However, when doing twists, I do them horizontally, and ALWAYS use two
gloves. Didn't one time, and the hand underneath received a load of hot
flakes. Then, after the twist, I pull off the hammer glove underneath =
the
armpit of the holding arm and hammer bare handed. I like the feel of =
the
hammer in the hand, not through the glove.

Still, two gloves are insufficient. I have pix of two third degree =
burns
just above the glove, where the wrench slipped. I now have a nomex arm =
band
(as yet untested, the last burn is almost healed<G>) to see how that =
does.
