John,
I will have to agree with Steve Smith, one burner would be fine for general
forge work or 2 if you are going to try and weld in it.  I like to put my
burners in at about 10 degrees off top center, this gives you a hot spot
and cold spot to work with.  I do not use the vortex effect in atmospheric
forge,  I feel that it is only necessary in blower driven forge because you
are moving so much air.
