I was there in the 80's and it was crazy, people would kill 3 beers and as 
many shots and then go weld submarines together... They used to pay the workers 
the shutdown pay all up front at Christmas and then it was a huge party all up 
and down the street for the rest of the day... it all stopped after one guy 
got so drunk he "made sweet love" to a manequin (like out of a store)  right on 
eastern point road by the railroad gate... but I will be damned if they 
didn't build the best submarines in the world...
