Mike, Dave, Ralph, et al ....

Thanks to all for the replies.

I'll be using the compressor for sand blasting and spray painting mostly, 
and a small air hammer (under construction), not to mention other misc. 
pneumatic tools (impact wrench, chisel, sander, die grinder, etc...).  I'll 
be using a cabinet for most blasting, but think that occasionally I'll be 
doing something larger out in the open, or surrounded by a plastic curtain.

One consideration is as you suggest ... use a squirrel cage blower and some 
2" soft flex tube to feed filtered air to the hood/mask.  Then I wouldn't 
have to worry about the oil contamination in the air I'd be breathing.  I 
was talking on the phone last night with Gene Olson (Guild of Metalsmiths) 
and he has a friend who has been doing this for years.

So ... I think I'll take you up on that furnace vent blower that you're 
offering.
