Well, there it is, and I'm left with no proof for my theorizing.
(in photoaccess, folder 'twister', 'twisted')
The piece didn't shrink in length, and it went from 1 5/16 (distance from
corner to corner on a 1" square) at the beginning of the twist to 1 1/8 at
the tightest.
1 1/8 round bar weighs the same per foot as 1" square, so the square is just
turning into round of the same mass.
I obviously don't understand exactly what material is being displaced and
where it goes.
Any of you herculanean cold twisters want to do a similar twist and see what
happens?
3" of twist, by the way, and mine was only 2 1/2 times around.
