I tend to keep my roommate, Rob, apprised of your current madnesses, with
all this new-fangles equipment you characters use (Hey, if it had been me,
I'd have hooked the bloddy thing up to a team of oxen and worked out a
favorable gear ratio ;-)

He got to telling me about a contest, of sorts, sponsored in the Norfolk
Naval yard, about who was using the oldest piece of equipment. The
blacksmith's shop won- not for their anvils- they didn't count, but because
of a drop hammer they'd gotten in 1837, which had been in continuous service
ever since....

"When in doubt, heat it up and hit it with a hammer."
 Blacksmith's credo.

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it is probably not a
cat.

Never a horse that cain't be rode,
And never a rider who cain't be throwed....
