Yes Bob, I use a small firebrick atmospheric forge with good results. It is
used for small projects and tests etc. Comes up to working temp very fast.
I can block up the back or leave it open when the stock is too long. You
can see a drawing of the forge on Ron Reils web site.
http://www.reil1.net/brforge.gif I have changed the burner since I made
this illustration. The burner I use now is a side draft design that works
even better.

Cheers

Subject: [TheForge] firebrick forge

Several years ago, I made a forge using stacked firebrick. The forge had a
blower and got very hot but took a while to get to temp. Has anyone used
firebrick for an atmospheric forge(no blower)?
I did not use mortar so I had to keep a flat top and this had coldspots.
Anyone used bricks to their satisfaction?
Thanks,
Bob
