I have been lurking on this board for a while now. Rarely I feel even halfway
qualified to make a contribution. I have only been at this on and off for 5
years mostly on since 2002.

I got my forge through my family, the anvil, some tools, a vise came too. All
stuff from my Great Granddads shop. The tools were in fair shape and I have
been using em and making new ones as I need em. I was missing some tools that I
have really wanted and I just got em.

My granddad made a forge from a tractor rim and took it to his future father
in law's in 1930. I guess it impressed him, Grandma even mentioned it in her
diary. I found it in the old farm barn, under a pile of what was once the roof
boards. It took 4 of us to move it but it came home with me.

Grandpa also worked plenty of plowshares on a little giant. I found out
where that was and lucky me it has been indoors all this time. I don't know nuttin
bout no power hammer but I guess I will find out soon. It came home with me
also. Had to find a running tractor to move it. Thanks to Sid for telling me
about using the old tires to cushion the hammer while moving. Ended up with
another anvil but it is in need of repair. Guess a larger shop is next.

Grandpa is 93 now, I sure hope the get this stuff running in time for him to
see it again.

Home of no mistakes but plenty of ART!
