I use small 7014 for that kind of assembly, when I'm not using the wire
feed. If you run it just a bit hot the arc starts effortlessly (less jarring
of balanced parts) and you can't beat it for a pretty bead.
Nice soft arc, too, less puncturing of thin parts.
