Yellow filters are great for snow because they block the blue glare.
And elswhere they actually sharpen your vision noticably because by
reducing chromatic aberration.

Has anyone tried the deep blue lenses used by steel mill guys? The
only one I have is a heavy, clunky goggle affair so I haven't used it
much but it cuts out nearly *all* the yellow. Yellow road signs, for
example, become almost invisible. Sodium flare goes away completely
and yellow-hot iron looks crimson.
