Hey Rick,
No these glasses and face shields are quite different.
The question of whether they are worth using, depends on how much forge
welding you do.
The shields are about $100, about 8 x more expensive that standard welding
shields and the gold surface is some what fragile, but I weigh that against
how much better I can control my billet welding process.
After you have tossed out a few complex damascus billets because of hidden
welding flaws and wasted  several hours of welding, not to mention how much
better your feel physically from the reduced eye strain, the cost becomes
insignificant.
Look at a picture of pilot and astronaught helmet visors. They aren't
wearing welding shades, the visors are gold coated.
