Has got good leads/directions on iron foundry design? I'm thinking of 
making one and I always like to glean what I can from other's experience.

I have read Gingery's gas forge plans with thoughts of using a burner 
design like Ron Reil 's site illustrates.  I think I'd like to insulate it, 
though, which would make his lifting device

I also saw a design with a sort of spigot on the front which would be more 
suitable for insulating.  I just don't know the pros and cons of each 
design, besides the ease of grabbing the crucible with Gingery's design.

Also, what about casting steel.  Is that feasible with these types of 
foundries?
