    No, I wasn't in Columbus, but if there was a conference on iron smelting
Flaxy might have been (her real name is VA Legowick), she had talked about
having to do a paper for a conference.
    The SCA event I am talking about is called "A Metal Smith's Symposium"
(see http://home.attbi.com/~avanmore/smith/index.htm) on 4th-6th of October.
If you attend you'll see/meet a lot of familiar names from this list.
