Steve,
The fly press I purchased is rather large.  It weighs about 1200
pounds and has masive cast iron legs that bolt to the bottom of the
base.  (You could say it's "im-press-ive")  My plan is to set it up as
originally designed.  The steel plate is for a welding/layout table--a
separate project all together.

I was thinking about putting some 6" cast iron castors & a frame under
the press to move it about.  It sounds like this may be a bad idea
unless I can lock the castors so they won't turn and roll, or to use
screw-down legs to lift the press off the castors.  I could do this
with some leveling feet from the bottom of scaffolding.
