I'm not a homebrewer, but i have enough qualified brewers about that I've
become something of an educated recipient. This year at Pennsic, my
neighbors were tripping all over themselves to give me their latest brews-
this year, it was mostly meads, but in other years there have been quite a
few beers as well.
The best beer I tried this year was WAD (Wide awake drunk) which is a
heavily caffinated brew- the best mead I tried was a dry ginger mead- the
brewer's first effort ;-)
Last year, the best was Scotti's gruited ale, followed closely by Joe's
Porter.
Just wish the laws would allow home distilling- as good as some of these
brews are, I'd love to see what some of these folks could do with a good
mash....
