The Junk Yard Steels page I have from North Texas Blacksmiths Association
web page shows bolts as flows:
Anchor Bolts 1040
Heat Treated bolts 2330
Heavy Duty Bolts 4815

I dunno what alloy they are but most U bolts make good chisels and punches
for both hot and cold work. Oil quench works most of the time.
