It sounds like a bit I've heard called a "clay spade" for trenching in
compacted clay soil.

Subject: [TheForge] odd jack-hammer bit.
hello;
a friend today gave me an odd jack hammer bit.
it looks like a 6 inch wide by roughly 9 inches
long by 1/4 inch thick shovel/spade. the bit is
about 20 inches long. never seen a jack-hammer bit
shaped like this.
he also gave me a bit someone broke. 1-1/8 inch octagon
shank, semi-chrome in appearance. anyone have any ideas
what it would be good for?
