Lee Valley has these things in 1/4" x 20 steel for C$0.23-C$0.50.
Similar in brass, thread not specified but appear smaller for
c$0.85-C$1.70.

And my friendly neighborhood hardware store has small ones.  I've used
them to repair my bootlace hooks.  I'd have to go out to the shop and
root to find one to measure.  It's a Home Hardware franchise if
they're in your area.  Only in Canada?

How many do you need, Roger?  300?  I know they don't stock that many but I
imagine they could order them.
