hello;
i was out today visiting a friend who runs a local tool rental
and welding supply shop. i jokingly asked him if he had ever seen
welding gloves in female welders sizes. from behind the welding
supplies rack popped out two female welders who started in on a
good 5 minute rant about how the welding supply manufacturers are
a bunch a male sexist pigs and how do they expect a female welder
to do their job when having to wear oversized welding gloves let
alone some feminine colors. paul and i just sat there with our
mouths open. i finally had the chance to explain why i was looking
for 'pink' welding gloves.
this does raise a question. what are welding supply manufacturers'
thinking? according to the two female welders there are around 50
female welders in northern illinois. these two are working on the
new natural gas pipeline that is being put in. it would definitely
appear that they are out of luck when it come to finding the proper
size of safety and welding garments. it would seem to make sense
that they would make some different sizes instead of the one size
fits all.
