adam,

i saw a piece by cyril colnik that had small leaves silver solderd on. the small amount of solder making the joint was all but invisible.

copper penny hard to find? use copper house wire. easy to find and in a more convienient shape than a penny anyway i think. heat it with your torch and dip in borax.
