Thanks Ralph:

We're quite a ways from the Denali fault, about 200 miles from the
epicenter. No tsunamis this time, the fault runs 300-450 miles from the
ocean, about 375 for the epicenter so the pacific rim is safe. . . For now.

I'm sure our well is pumping mud, it does anyway when the aquifer rises in
the spring. I had to install a couple grand worth of graduated gravel bed,
self flushing filter and element filters to control the sand and silt so our
taps are clear regardless. Everybody as far as I know has a muddy well right
now.

It's not so hard to understand the real whackos if you want. All you have to
do is follow Mike's advice and ground your saucepan in the same well.
Seriously though it's sad people in such distress can't get help.
Unfortunately you can't force them to take treatment and these particular
disorders make them extremely distrustful.

Psychopaths on the other hand are a completely different kettle of offal.
There is no "cure" with the state of our psychiatric knowledge. Maybe
someday but for now they require a rather permanent solution. What's really
unfortunate is they're so hard to stop in advance.

On the up side Spree killers like this pair are pretty disorganized and get
themselves caught fairly quickly. Not quick enough for entirely too many
innocent victims but way quicker than serial killers. Even disorganized
serial killers are harder and take a lot longer to catch. An organized and
halfway disciplined serial killer can take decades to bring down if ever.

I don't know if the times are making people crazier and more dangerous or
communications are getting good enough we're just hearing about more cases.
I think the quake shook a few loose around here but this is a plus actually.
When the whackos come out in the open they can vent some of the craziness
and it really helps us keep an eye on them, just in case.

All's well for Deb, myself and the menagerie of critters.

Hope all's well for you and yours.
