Since I have a copy of an earlier edition of "The Mastermyr Find". I can
say that the metallurgical analysis, shows most of the tools are pure iron,
i.i.e.., less than .002% carbon. In the pieces they examined, no sign of
case hardening, Some few pieces of cutting tools show a welded bit of
steel, .4% carbon, as the cutting edge, but most of the iron is as pure as
can be, according to Appendix II, "A Metallurgical Examination of some iron
objects from Mastermyr" by Sten Modin
