i ran a 50lb lg on a 1-1/2 hp farm duty motor for a while. it was an older motor and pretty big compared to motors today. i think the specs call for a 2 horse. i don't think running a power hammer is really hard on a motor. i remember a while back some guys in the anvils ring were running a 25lb with a chainsaw engine. not ideal no doubt but i think they were just getting thru a job if i remember right. who is rebuilding the hammer? sid? i sometimes wish i had kept that 50lb. i have a 25 now. the 50 will do everything the 25 will and more. good luck.
