Do you know somebody with a lathe? Even going to a machine shop would
probably be cheaper than having one custom made. Don't know though, I've
never priced something like that, I have a lathe.
One more "tip" for those who have these kinds of "problems" often. Enroll in
a local high school or college "night" shop (industrial arts <sigh>) class.
For a VERY reasonable price you get access to a well equipped shop and
expert (hopefully) advice. I haven't seen a school shop in a number of years
but in high school we were very well equipped: lathes, mills, shaper,
surface grinder, forge, foundry, various and sundry bench and pedestal tools
(including a fully tooled Hossfeld bender) and all the hand tools and
instrumentation a person would need baring the extraordinary.
If I don't get a shop of some description set up this summer I'll be
enrolling at the local college this winter.
