i will probably come down for one or two days.

i don't know the schedule (is it posted?) but if evenings are free or if you just need a break go to downtown lacrosse. i like the "bodega" on the corner of 3rd and pearl. good selection of real beers on tap and in bottles. last time i was there they had guiness/sierra nevada pale ale and others on tap. they also brew their own and it is very good beer.

there are a some other good bars within walking distance. good pizza and burgers at "big als". good burgers and more at "fayzes". good mexican at "tequilas". a couple of chinese spots.

winona mn. is about 30 miles up river. one of the most scenic rides you will see (rt. 61). stop at twin bluffs bar for a beer on the way. winona is home of hossfeld benders. no doubt they would show you around and sell you some dies or a bender.

up the road from winona 2-3 miles is minnesota city the home of american bending (http://www.americanbender.getwebnet.com/). they make a hossfeld clone with lower prices than hossfeld. all parts interchange.

also in winona is the watkins home (spices). the watkins home is now a rest home but they are very nice about visitors. there is a yellin gate at the front door and some very tasty door handles (yellin) inside the "great hall".

it has been cool and wet here this spring. bring something warm and it wouldn't hurt to have an umbrella or rain gear.

i am about 40 miles west of lacrosse and about 7 miles south. if you're coming from the west on i-90 and have time to stop feel free. email for better directions.
