My brother and myself have a tent fly supported by six pole and an center
ridge. The actual fly material is the same type of cloth used to make
welding screens. We have use it for demonstrations and for when we teach
blacksmithing courses at the local pioneer village. Works great. Easy to
set up and knock down.

I use a 10' by 12' canopy for my shop in the backyard. Sometime in the
future, I hope to build a metalsheathed structure. The canopy works well
keeping sun and rain off the anvil and the blacksmith. When it snows,
you have to get the snow off the canopy. I don't have a flue on my forge
so I'm careful when starting the fire. Otherwise, things work well. My
canopy has a 6' eave and a 7' or so ridge.
A source of canopies is Tek Supply www.teksupply.com They are located
in both Iowa and Connecticut and service the agricultural community
mainly. Their canopies have a 6' eave and a 9' ridge. They do sell a
fire-retardant tarp for their canopies. Check their website.
