Yeah it would work if you have to, but its better to use a solid die if you
ask me, i find gaps between dies and the anvil mean less of a transfer of
impact is possible. Why not just use A36 for the dies, I have several mild
steel dies and they work fine, some are super quenched some arent, some are
used quite a bit. Why not use flat dies with a saddle setup so you can use
the harder metal dies when you want them and you can change them around.
