Fire bricks are rated by temperature. Most have imprints and a code and
MFG. Think you have to check with the MFG . The ITC is worth using on top
of the rest as it improves the heat reflection of the refractories.
The best fire bricks for inslulation are the light fragile high-alumina type.
The grubby reality is I tend to use what I have then mess with it endlessly
