[TheForge] tapping wood threads on metal

Does anyone know of a source for a die that can tap wood threads on metal
stock?  Yesterday I tried to make my own by making a spring die with the
impression of a 5/16" wood thread..............the impression on the die
seems okay,  but when I tried to forge a thread on a piece of 5/16 round
stock it resulted in a oval piece with not very distinct threads. (too much
material?)
