Dan,

You will need to size the pintle for the hanging weight.  It has to support
that weight without bending.  This will determine the cross section of the
embedded portion of the pintle.

The withdrawal force of the embedded portion can be handled in different
ways.  If the pintle will be cast in, you can simply hook the end 2-3" or
forge an eye and place a vertical bar in the concrete behind the hook.  The
hook should be 4-6" embedded.  Threaded anchors would be more complicated
but would allow the pintle to be placed later.
