Ray, Good score! I also found one last year for $200 worth of work
to a guy's truck...........which was just a days work.
The tables are cast which makes them great as far as just surface
rusting - so a wire brush should take care of your needs unless you want a
polished finish like a blanchard ground table. The tables seem to be within
.010 of flat so there really is no need for grinding them for blacksmithing
work as far as I can see.
I had a table building workshop when I picked mine up as I wanted a
nice stand for mine, and figured while we were at it, we'd make a bunch of
work tables for some good guys in the club here in New England. We did five
tables in one day - and I posted some of the ideas on the photo site of
reciever tubes and accessories.
Where you are going to set the table up is the first question you'll
have. I found inside the shop was useless as you put a 20 foot section of
steel on it and you instantly hit a tool, wall, or some obsticle in the
shop..........If your intention is six foot and under assemblies you'll do
well in the shop. I keep mine outside for the room it offers for material
swing. I just plug in the accessories when I need them and then bring them
in out of the rain.
I'll send you some pictures of ideas of mine, Dave Mudge's that he
sent to me, and a site someone posted of a 5 x 20 section of four tables set
in series and their ideas. They are very helpfull to holding stock, bending
materials cold, and using hydraulics on the table. If you have a port a
power - your gonna love that table. If you have a power pack with a push
button for the hydraulics you are going to find this about the best few
hundred dollars you have spend in a while.
The first thing you want to do is find some 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 square if
your table is the same size as mine.........this will be the material you
need to make all the sluggers to make your life easy.

Ralph
