        Dave,  New England has one of the masters of the Hossfeld, or other
smaller benders.  This fellow comes up with some great ideas.  One of the
things he stresses most is working outside (or on top) of the frame for
hooks and quick bends.  He made some  extra long S7 pins and cut some on the
lathe, and others made bushings for to use on different diameters of bends.
The pins are then heated and air quenched to harden them - and they hold up
quite well from what he said.   He just ordered extra stock when he was
making chisels in the size of the pins for the bender, and it's worked out
well for him.
