I have been to many amish farms in my area to deal with veterinary matters,
and am always impressed by them. They seem to have a good work ethic and are
very family oriented. They take a lot of pride in there farms and how they
are run. Above all else I have noticed that the children are very well
mannered and polite. Maybe it's because they haven't been introduced to many
of the bad influences from the society around them. The children are also
expected to handle responsibility at a very early age. My wife and I have no
children at the moment, but if I could have children that were as well
behaved and hard working as the Amish children I have encountered, I believe
that I would also want 10 or 15 fo them. Woodworking, quilting,
blacksmithing. leatherworking, baking and many more crafts are practiced by
the Amish in my area, and they are good at them. Maybe giving up TV,
newspapers, and computers is not such a bad thing for some folks. I
wholeheartedly respect there lifestyle, I think it's a good thing and they
are productive people.
