Dan the SCA is not real strong on period detail. the rule is an attempt at
period. that said there are some that have their time frame down to a tee.
you walk into their camp and everything is as it should be for Xday in X
year.Most make attempt to designs the modern stuff that they are using I've
seen gas forges placed under fake coal, I've seen 1800 rivet forges to the
masses they see guy hit hot steel with a hammer ouu...ahhhh.
