While you can spoof IP stuff that uses UDP (User Datagram Protocol),
TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) won't work with spoofed source addresses -- 
the connection handshake would fail because the spoofed address would respond
with a TCP RST (Connection reset), which would cause the connection to the
target mail server to fail.  As such, it won't work for spamming.

Yay for TCP =)

Anyone who wants to pick my brain on IP is welcomed to do so.
