I mentioned the other day that I was getting ready to head out to an iron
smelting run.  Well, it went rather well, though not as good as the one at
last Pennsic.  We did get a nice bloom, and I was able to take home about
1/3 of it.  The chunk I got weighs in at 3.6#.  I have a few pictures of
the smelting run at http://www.panix.com/~torin/private/iron2 though be
warned...they are pretty big pics.  And in case anybody wants to know, it
was by the direct process, using hardwood charcoal as the fuel.
