On the other hand, Larry, castings aren't that hard to do either. Just
another set of skills to learn. I regularly move my T-Rex burner from the
forge to the furnace to cast up a piece in aluminum or bronze. These days I
don't even do much pattern making. If I can build it from styro-foam , I do
lost foam castings. Don't have to worry about pattern release or
undercuts. Just put it in a box of sand, vibrate it to settle the sand
around it, and pour the metal. The styro-foam evaporates, leaving a metal
replica, ready to be machined.

I've been having so much fun doing metal I haven't updated the pages
lately. Between Mastermyr and other smithing, foundry, model
engineering, wood working and machine shop, I tell you, the patio of my
apartment is getting crowded.
