I believe it to be "Galloping Girtie" the Seattle Tacoma Bridge. There
is film of it oscilatting prior to collapse. There are actually some
fools walking across it!!!
On the topic of "engineers" having received my degree in Fluid and
Thermal Sciences I can legitimately dodge the label of "engineer". In
good conscience I consider myself a wayward mechanical engineer. Doesn't
mean anything really except that I spent 4 good years of earning
potential, learning how to solve problems using the "scientific method",
along with some tricky calculus, way out physics and plenty, and I do
mean plenty of BEER!!
If I had it to do over again? Probably would have started metal mangling
much earlier, but probably would not have changed much in the
professional/technical world. (Gained some great experience,
irreplacable training, and in the long run, enjoyed it).
