The reason one uses natural fiber clothing when playing with fire is NOT because it is fire retardant, but rather that it does not fully ignite or melt as synthetics will. A hot piece of slag or ember on polyester will melt the polyester (read as Plastic) and it will continue to cause injury even after any flame is extinguished.
If you truely feel the need for fire retardent clothing, get yourself some Nomex duds.
