OK, that makes it both smaller than I was thinking, and thicker- I was
guesstimating about 14 guage steel, but it appears that I'll be closer with
maybe 10 guage- I'll check my guagemeter, in a bit. No wonder it survived-
3-4 mm is some heavy stuff! I used 11 g for my forge table, and it took some
work to shape and cut and drill and what not.

Anybody know if pure iron comes in plate? And, where the neaest place is to
get some? Going to need a fair amount for both these projects, and the
Metalworking Symposium. Meantime, Rob is going to go see if the Navy might
be throwing away any 10 inch mild steel disks, in say, the 3-4mm range- I'll
need a couple of practice pieces for sure.

Any sign of any deliberate holes in the thing for attachments, as for
hanging, or are we looking at something set to rest on rocks over the fire?
And, the triangular hole in the center- any clue as to if it were
deliberate, for drainage, or simply a rusty spot, eating out from a smaller
hole?

Stiull thinking- but yes, Bill, I intend to do it.... also thinking about
the spatula.....
