[TheForge] Patriotic rant....

We dole out money to most of the countries that criticize us. If we
don't do anything about their problems, we aren't "doing our share" in
the world. If we do something we are imperialist pigs. Can't win if
you are dealing with people. Many of the societies that want us
destroyed exist in modern terms because of us. Even a cur dog is
grateful to it's benefactor.
As far as Africa is concerned when the imperialists left the locals
started killing each other and haven't stopped. Now that somehow is
our fault too. Even though it was Europe that did the colonization and
left at the request of the locals.
The local governments are too corrupt to do anything but kill their
own people. It's not that aid hasn't been sent, most of it is stolen.
These people were no more ready for self government than the man in
the moon, BUT.. world opinion... whimpy, weepy, sorry, world opinion
saw them as "oppressed". Now they are not oppressed by a foreign
government, they are dead at the hands of their own people. I guess
that's an improvement, but it's not our fault.
You want money?... Earn it or it comes with strings. I sincerely
believe that the Marshal Plan was a serious error. Had we left them
to rebuild themselves, they would probably respect us now.
"You can't help a man by doing for him what he can and should do
for himself"
A. Lincoln.
