I think we get acclimated, we know that certain length of exposure is
not going to leave damaged skin, and we automatically can recognize
higher temps need lower exposure. To the point of being just so hot
it burns you outright, like 2nd degree or worse, instantly. You know
that the discomfort is only temporary and is not "hurting you", so you
do it, eventually those nerves don't respond to stimulus in that
temperature range.
I notice that when I do get too close or for too long the pain
reaction is instant and intense, not a build up to "oh that's hot".
You experience this?
Most people are rather whimpy, not bashing anyone just an
observation, they WANT attention and have been taught any injury gets
attention, heck any thought of an injury gets attention.
It's "coward chic" to not be tough... it's the same issue we are
talking about really. Wouldn't want to offend anyone by being tough.
