I hope they don't get used, but of course most of us won't have a say one way or another. I'll just sit back and hope the fall out won't be that bad.

I was listening to the radio yesterday; we have had a lot of discussions about Africa lately. The G8 are meeting here in a week and our Prime Minister is after aid for Africa, there was a chap from (I missed the country) in Africa. He mentioned that after the there war their economy was in the pits. What they need was some economic help, people where starving. There were still farmers able to grow food, but people couldn't afford it. So we in the west gave them food, but no money. As a result the farmers went broke, and now their farmland is gone to waste. Then we cut off the food aid.

On a different note when our kids were little they would see these World Vision ads for foster children. We decided that as a family we would each sponsor a child, it helps them with medical and education etc and costs about $30 cdn each. My daughter wrote her sister asking about her countries economic problems, hoping to get some info for a school paper she was writing. The Sister (same age 15) sent a paper back written better and in more depth than most university students could do about IMF polices, and there effects on her country and people.

Now I know I don't have any answers, but I think that some of our well-meaning ideas may not be the best. Our polices, may be good for us, but how do they effect others, is what we should really think about.
