There is some overlap between ropemaking and blacksmithing.
It was my rope making demonstrations that got me invited to my first
blacksmith conference.
Also, Greg Davis, Author of the rope book and builder of the rope machine
offered for sale on www.Lehmans.com says he completed his basic
blacksmithing course at Amana, Iowa under UMBA instructor Roger Quants.
I have sold a few of Greg's rope machines and his rope books.
Gregs stuff can also be found at www.makerope.com and also with Lindsay's
Books. Greg Davis, Dave Brown and other mid west rope makers will meet
for a rope making exchange at Living History Farms, Des Moines, Iowa this
August 3 & 4th. We hope to have rope makers from 5 or 6 states this year.
