[TheForge] Demo's what to do

With the crowds that I deal with, it's impossible to hammer fast enough.
And it's just as unreasonable to hammer enough before hand. If you give
to one, you have to be ready to give to all. So, pick and choose
carefully. Then give to someone who represents "the group." Also,
before giving, mention that, politely, it's impossible to make more
quickly.
I would think that it would be similar most other places. Particularly
if you have kids watching<G>.
Don't get me wrong. I like kids and crowds, but there's just some
things you shouldn't do in them. Hammer welding is one (unless there's
glass between you and the crowd<G>).
On the other hand, if you do wish to give something out; have a spiel
that you say during the hammering while you make the item. Then, when
you give it out, they have had the fun of watching you make it. And the
others will see that it took you 5 minutes to make the thing. Adults
will understand the situation<G>.
I certainly would be interested in seeing what folks make to give out
myself<G>.
Here, leaves, key rings, nails.

I would like to ask a question about doing demonstrations for the
general public. For those of you who have done this, what do you find to
be the best things to make to give people an idea of what we do. I was
at a event yesterday and found myself at a loss as to what to do, that
could be done quickly, and even given to some of the kids in the
audience as a reminder of their experience. I noticed that people don't
stay very long, so I'm trying to think of something that would be quick,
and not to involved, something besides a hook please. I'm not too much
of an original thinker, but I can take an idea and run with it. Thanks
in advance John C.
