[TheForge] Mail hook Question

Hi guys,

While demoing this weekend I had a lady say that her house used to be a pony
express station. It had a hook that they would hang a mail bag on that the
rider could grab as he rode by. She said that she would like to have a mail
hook made to replace the original one that is long gone.  She didn't have a
clue what the original looked like and only had a general description from
an elderly aunt.

So do any of you have an idea what this mail hook looked like? I would like
to help her out but need a starting place.

PS: On demoing, If I have supervised groups of children comming through I
usually make J hooks. If I'm demoing at a craft/art show I make what ever is
selling and I'm running short on. Frequentlly someone will want something
similar to an item on my table and it usually makes a good impression when I
say that I can make what they want while they wait or will have it ready
when they come back in an hour.

If I don't need to replace stock I like to make something with a leaf on it.
