Thanks, Darrell.  I will advise the customer what to get.

As for Mike Graf's concerns about liability, the customer and I discussed 
this and he realizes that the rope/cord will be custom made, untested, and 
installed at his own risk.  He has agreed to sign a waiver to that 
extent.  Not exactly lawyer proof, but good enough.
