Bob, I find metering the air on the way in is a great way to get
system control at a lesser volume and yield a lighter hit. the metering on
the out end of things is being done with the treadle controling the exhuast
flow to make the hammer cycle at different rates.
I'm sure your aware of the regulators some folks use if their
cylinders have large diameter rods so to make up for the volume difference.
I find with a 3/4 rod the difference is insugnificant and not necessary to
do.........but others may argue.
Just my take on it.
